Location, location, location… That is the word for the Presidente Hotel!
Located on the pedestrian Avenida Central (Central Avenue) it is an easy, ideal hotel for any who really wants to see and live the costarrican culture. The rooms are comfortable and large and interestingly enough, quiet and very private. The decoration is nice and the windows let you live the European atmosphere of the cafes in the avenue.
There is free wi-fi in the whole hotel and I really had no problems connecting with it (Which is unfortunately unusual).
Right next to the hotel you can find banks (Very convenient if you want to change your currency to colones) and several bars, restaurants, hotels and even markets.
The restaurant is pretty good and the included breakfast buffet is very varied, with the usual Gallo Pinto, omelets, different kinds of bread, lots of fresh delicious fruits and cereals and yoghurt.
As usual in Costa Rica all the staff is helpful and sweet. They are willing to help you in any possible way. There is a parking lot in the back of the hotel if you are on a group tour (I saw one when I was checking in) and luggage has to be loaded or if you rent a car.
If not, it is really easy to find transportation to any destination, either private or public. Taxis are parked usually in front of the hotel.
If staying in San Jose and touring from there, probably the Presidente is a great choice to do that… since you are out in the day and can go out at night also. If coming for the one first and last night… Presidente is also an ideal location to get into the costarrican feeling.
However it is, if you are into Costa Rica and the costarricans, Hotel Presidente is the hotel you want to stay in.
