Horseback Riding around La Fortuna:
Appreciate the Arenal Volcano from a different perspective and ride close to the base of the mountain, along Arenal River, or up across the rainforest to La Fortuna Waterfall on either half day or full day tours. You can even go to Monteverde and explore beyond the immediate area. Excursions for this activity are open for both novices and more skilled riders. Tours can be arranged with resident tour companies.
Arenal Canopy and Zipline Tours:
Speaking of new ways to see the natural setting surrounding the Arenal Volcano, zipline tours are famous for being an adventurous and still safe option for visitors. Fly through the air on zip lines attached to huge rainforest trees or rooted in the sides of mountains. Admire plenty of unique views from different places around La Fortuna, including zip lines over La Fortuna Waterfall and alongside Lake Arenal. Hanging Bridges around Arenal Volcano:
Immerse yourself in evergreen beauty along trails full of wonders that include animals in their natural habitat and unique views of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Hanging bridges let you walk at the same level as the treetops and feel what it means to be one with nature.
Kayaking on Lake Arenal:
Kayak or canoe down the clear waters of Lake Arenal, enjoying the clearest view of the Arenal Volcano and the nearby hills. Or you can take on the nearby rivers and ride the rush of the rapids.
Waterfall Rappelling at Lost Canyon:
Defy gravity and go over the edge of a waterfall in this exciting recreational sport. Waterfall rappelling mixes hiking and swimming in a unique way to discover Arena’s canyons and natural surroundings. At Lost Canyon, one of Arenal’s waterfall rappelling destinations, visitors rappel down a series of four waterfalls, more than 200ft high.
