Mobiles are incredibly useful; humanity managed to put lots of tools in one single device to make our life easier, everything from calculators, clocks, alarms, music, between a few, to social networks, bank accounts, pictures, messages, light, even exercise! They are extremely useful but don’t forget that you still have eyes, brain and the marvelous sensation of surprise.
With time, we have replaced the old tools, but at the same time we have replaced something without even notice; our capacity to marvel. It happens a lot that when traveling, we get obsessed with taking pictures so we can upload them to Twitter or Facebook.
Imagine yourself in the Costa Rican tropical rainforest, who wouldn’t like to share that with their family and friends? Mostly everyone! But here we are to tell you; that’s far away from enjoying the experience.
When you get in a place where you can imagine heroes such as Indiana Jones, Tarzan or well, even the reporters from National Geographic, you feel the eager to take a picture, but how about no? Have you ever thought about how you can take that moment and make it yours, getting Marvel by the wonders of the jungle, be amazed at a Sloth taking care of her son, or watching the little insects with hundreds of colors going through the leaves? Let me tell you… it’s fantastic!

In the last few decades, we have lost our perception of the fantastic beauty that surrounds us, we have embraced technology and don’t want to let go.
But, what if, you create a moment for yourself, save it in your mind and memory taking it out whenever you like; when you are having a bad day, a story in a party, a conversation with you family! Make that moment yours, and decide when to share it.
What happens with the smartphones and their cameras, social networks and in general the Internet is that we are losing the very reason why you want to get away for a while: Enjoy it. taking pictures and being in constant communication is that you never have time for yourself, you only have share memories, and well, you make yourself dependent to this. And who to blame? Is not bad at all, we are in the communication era! We have never, in all humanity, have been so communicated as we are now! Of course, we want to use it, but let’s do not forget, that we, as individuals, still exist. Even if we are not alone in that perfect moment, we can share it with that person, and not with all the other ones who are miles away.

And especially in a country like Costa Rica that is all about nature. You certainly don’t want to miss the moment. The monkeys jumping, a group of noisy macaws over your head, a whale tail splashing. Nature is about the present momento. And you will enjoy it much more if you go along with it.
So, next time you travel, try to leave your phone in your pocket for a minute more, explore and discover the impressive things that any place have to offer. Find beauty in things and learn how by practicing it, after all, we may never be in that same place again.
