This 12 day tour has been specially designed to give tourists a taste of Costa Rica’s natural attractions and lifestyle. It offers an inclusive sample of all the great things this small country has to offer. The tour runs on a fixed departure basis and is available all year round.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Costa Rica
Our team will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel in the outskirts of San José. After checking in, you can spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
Day 2
Poas Volcano/Coffee Plantation/Arenal Volcano
 (B) After breakfast, your guide and transport will pick you up to take you to Poas Volcano National Park (one of the largest craters in the world). You will be able to enjoy the views from the crater observation platform and take a hike through the rainforest to the nearby Botos Lagoon (a former crater). Your journey then continues to a family owned coffee plantation and mill where you will learn all about sustainable coffee production. At the end of the day you will head out towards the Arenal Volcano region and spend the night in the area.
Day 3
Arenal Volcano
 (B,L) Your day starts off with a visit to a multifaceted sustainable conservation project where you will learn about local butterfly species and explore the center’s experimental farm which features over 300 different kinds of plants. Afterwards, you will head to an adventure center located in the middle of the rainforest. Here you can take part in several activities, including an aerial tram and zip line tour. During the evening you will relax in the natural hot springs in the middle of the lush jungle, spending your second night in the Arenal Volcano area.
Day 4
Sarapiqui
 (B) You will depart early for Sarapiqui, a region filled with flourishing tropical habitats and wonderful wildlife. You will make a stop at a privately owned natural reserve where you’ll enjoy a hike through the dense forest, learn about the cocoa bean and participate in the production of organic chocolate. You will spend the night in Sarapiquí.
Day 5
Sarapiqui/Turrialba (B) You can spend the morning at your leisure, exploring the surroundings. During early afternoon you will depart for Turrialba Valley, famous for its archaeological sites, abundant nature and white-water rafting. Overnight in Turrialba.
Day 6 -
Turrialba
(B) Your day begins with a visit to the largest archaeological site found to date in Costa Rica. The ruins scattered across the area are around 3000 years old. Afterwards, you will visit an agriculture research and higher education center whose objective is to modernize tropical agriculture and preserve sustainable agricultural practices. The center features over 2400 types of coffee beans and 450 kinds of cacao plants. You will spend the night in Turrialba.
Day 7
Turrialba/Savegre Valley
(B,L) You will depart towards Savegre Valley and during the way, enjoy a sightseeing walk along the rural road. The views of the mountains here are spectacular and you will get to observe the many facets of local agricultural life. Your journey continues on towards the Savegre Valley, located near Cerro de la Muerte (one of the highest places in Costa Rica) and filled with abundant mountainous forests and white water. Spend the night in Savegre.
Day 8
Savegre Valley
(B) This day is spent exploring and hiking through the cloud forest (acclaimed by birdwatchers from all over the globe), in search of the resplendent quetzal. You’ll have the chance to observe the thriving natural habitat as well as many kinds of wildlife first-hand. Once more, you will spend the night in Savegre.
Day 9
Savegre Valley/Uvita & Dominical
 (B) You will depart for Uvita and Dominical; this last is a friendly beach-front town in the South Pacific Coast of the country that offers many recreation activities to its visitors. Alternatively, Uvita is the main gateway for exploring Marino Ballena National Park, a coral reef sanctuary and key whale-watching site (July through October). You will spend the night in a nice coastal ecolodge.
Day 10
Uvita & Dominical (B) During the morning you will visit Marino Ballena National Park where you will explore its many beaches (including Punta Uvita). You can spend the rest of the day at your leisure on the beach, relaxing and enjoying the sea. Once more, overnight in Uvita & Dominical.
Day 11
Uvita – San Jose
(B) During the morning hours, you can explore the surroundings and participate in various activities at your leisure. By early afternoon, you will depart and head back to San José where you’ll spend the night.
Day 12
San Jose
(B) The time of your transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport will depend on the time of your flight. After making sure you arrive at the airport with sufficient time, our team will bid you a safe journey home.
