Detailed Itinerary

Day 1-2

Grab your bags, jump into your Pathfinder, and off you go to Arenal mountain! Arenal is a live volcano with hot springs nearby. You first few days is spent at the luxurious Tabacón Hot Springs Resort, a 42-room hotel with nearby hot springs. This veritable paradise also includes 5 hectares (12 acres) of botanical gardens and complete spa services (massage, facials, and more.) Relax in complete luxury! Stay includes unlimited access to hot springs. full gourmet breakfasts.

Day 3-6

Then it's across the bay and onto the southern most tip of the Pacific North, Mal Pais. There you will stay at the Flor Blanca, one of the most incredible luxury resorts in Costa Rica. While this location is remote, The Flor Blanca has all the amenities.

It also has some incredible architecture, borrowing heavily from the Near East and Orient with an organic feel and natural expression. One interesting item of note is the alfresco bathrooms with enclosed garden. This hotel is the perfect combination of first class luxury in harmony with nature. Did we mention that there is only 10 villas in the entire hotel? Stay includes full gourmet breakfasts.

Day 7

Then it's across the bay for a single night stay at the Villa Caletas. Located on a cliff high over a private beach, the Villa Caletas is surrounded by a lush rainforest. Once a mansion, it has expanded to has only 8 rooms and 20 secluded bungalows each with king beds, ocean or jungle views, and all the amenities of home. Spectacular pool, two restaurants and bars, and an unbelievable sunset will make your stay her unforgettable.

Day 8-11

Time to drive south to the famous Makanda by the Sea, a luxury adults only romantic hotel overlooking the Pacific Ocean. These are large villas (~1000 sq. ft.) and no two are alike. They offer a large king size bed with mosquito net, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen including refrigerator and freezer, a large sofa and dining area, private bath with hot water and a balcony with hammock and spectacular ocean and jungle views.

Be sure to try the Sunspot Restaurant - located poolside, an intimate restaurant serving delicious lunches and dinners, with a wide selection of international foods, including fresh fish, meats, and local vegetables. An incredible experience! Breakfasts are included in your stay.

Day 12

Take off early in the morning to reach the amazing Hotel Xandari by noon in San José. Rather than spending your last night in an 'airport hotel', why not spend it on a working coffee plantation? 16 private and spacious villas overlook the central valley. Elegant decoration and unique style makes this place stand out from the crowd. There are private and scenic trails you can walk on, a number of waterfalls, and peace and quiet. It's still close to the airport, but it might as well be a thousand miles away! A simple continental breakfast (plus great coffee) before you board your plane to home.
